ECCE 111: Introduction to Early Childhood Care and Education is a one –credit unit course designed for NCE 1 students in Colleges of Education. The course defines various terms used in early childhood care and education, enumerate the history of early childhood education, identify various icons, and their contributions in ECCE. It also identifies various issues as they affect children Rights, gender issues and professional ethics. 

This course is intended to equip the students with the knowledge of:

  1. Understanding the concept of Early childhood care and education.
  2. Historical development of early childhood education.
  3. Identifying the basic needs of the child.
  4. Contemporary issues.
